John Andruss
I began teaching High School Art in 1996 after receiving a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Ed. from UNLV. I also received a Masters in Educational Technology from NSU in 1999. Prior to moving to Nevada in 1988 I grew up and lived in the Chicago area where I owned a guitar shop with a partner. That was part of a 12-year career repairing and customizing musical instruments.
In my teaching career I have taught beginning art, drawing, painting and commercial design, but the one course I have taught every single year has been Ceramics.
I am a past President and Secretary of the Nevada Clay Guild and with my wife have co-sponsored the annual Empty Bowl Benefit to feed the homeless and hungry of Las Vegas since 2000.
My wife is also a potter and we have a pottery studio at home where she makes and sells her own work.
